It is easy to use, focuses on the essentials, and contains all the information required for assessments in each area of risk. Medical, occupational and financial factors are considered, as well as the insured's place of residence and leisure activities. Questions concerning access and registration

01.

How can you register as a user?

Only selected clients of Munich Re may register. This applies for both interim access (without contract) and full access (with contract). Please ask your contact at Munich Re if you wish to apply for registration. He or she will provide detailed information on the system and the further procedure. Alternatively you may use the template provided on the login pages of MIRA as well as connect.munichre.

02.

Some of my colleagues and clients are interested in MIRA or in the connect portal. How can they find out more about it?

Your colleagues/clients should apply via login-site (login-button "request access") or contact our connect-team by phone: +49 89 3891-6700 (Germany) resp. +49 89 3891-6710 (International). Regarding MIRA you may also refer to your local underwriting contact.

03.

What is meant by interim access?

Interim access to MIRA as well as connect.munichre is restricted for a limited period (six weeks), which can be granted without the client's first having to sign a contract. During this time, the client should then sign a licence agreement and obtain permanent access. If a client's interim access is not converted to full access or extended within the six-week period, it will then be blocked. Registration for interim access is analogous to that for full access.

04.

What is meant by full access?

When giving full access to MIRA as well as connect.munichre Munich Re provides clients with unlimited access to all available portal contents and thus differs from interim access, which is restricted to certain contents for a limited period of six weeks. In order to obtain full access, clients must sign a licence agreement.

05.

Is a contract necessary in order to use MIRA or connect.munichre?

A contract must be signed in order to obtain free full access to MIRA as well as connect.munichre. The six-week interim access can be used without a contract.

06.

What is a registration account and how long is it valid?

The registration account is part of the registration process. This temporary account comprises a username and a password and is sent to you by mail. With the aid of this account, users can generate their own personal account with individual username and password within a period of two months.

07.

When and how is the full access enabled?

When the contract has been signed between the client and Munich Re and the possible users have been defined, the so-called registration account will first of all be sent to a specified contact in your company by e-mail. This registration account should then be distributed to the individual users in the company. The primary insurer's users can use this account to login permanently. For this purpose, the user must first login with the registration account data and add a few particulars concerning him or herself and the company. The user will then receive an e-mail containing a confirmation link authenticating the user. He or she is then sent an individual username and a password, with which the user should register with MIRA and/or connect.munichre within ten days in order to obtain permanent full access.

08.

How do I log in?

Using the account information from the e-mail sent to you: enter the user name and the password and then press the login button.

09.

I am having problems logging in. What could be the reason?

Please check your login data and try again, being careful to enter the characters precisely as prescribed in lowercase and uppercase. If that fails to work, your access may have been blocked. In this case please see the FAQ "Access denied?".

010.

How do you logout of the system?

The logout button should be used to logout of MIRA as well as connect.munichre. In a separate step, the window of the virtual project space should be closed to logout of the virtual project space.

011.

Forgotten your password?

If you ever forget your password, you can click onto the link "Password forgotten" on the login page. The reminder answer must then be entered before the system can issue a new temporary password.

012.

Access denied?

Access is denied if (1) you have forgotten your password and have given two wrong answers to the reminder prompt or (2) regular access confirmation (sent every six months via mail) has not been provided or (3) denial of access has been explicitly applied for. If you have been denied access, please call the connect team at: +49 89 3891-6700 (for clients in Germany) or +49 89 3891-6710 (for clients in all other countries) or send an e-mail to: connect.munichre.com. MIRA users may also refer to their local underwriting contact.

013.

How can the user profile be changed?

Your particulars can be changed via the link "Profile" in the footer line of connect.munichre. By clicking on it, you can change your data relating to MIRA and/or connect.munichre, but not any company data for you stored at Munich Re.

014.

How can I change my user name?

You can change your encoded user name to an user name of your choice. Simply press the “Profile” button in the navigation bar. You can then enter your user name directly under the heading “User profile”. The user name must consist of at least seven capital/lower case letters and numbers, but may not have any umlauts e.g. ä, ü etc.). Once you have entered the desired user name, please click on “Save” at the end of the page. If the user name you have entered is not available, you will automatically be requested to enter another user name. If the name is available, connect.munichre will confirm your entry. You can now return to connect.munichre and proceed as usual.

015.

How can I change my password?

You can change your password by activating the "Profile" button in the lower navigation bar.

016.

How can I change authorisations (e.g. line of business)?

017.

How does periodic authentication work?

Every six months, you will receive an e-mail containing a link. Clicking on the link will take you to a page where you have to authenticate your identity. This is necessary for security reasons.

Questions concerning technical problems

01.

Who can I contact to get answers to technical questions?

Please click on the "Contact" button in the lower navigation bar or contact the connect team directly at: +49 89 3891-6700 (for clients in Germany) or +49 89 3891-6710 (for clients in all other countries) or send an e-mail to: Business-Applications@munichre.com. Alternatively for questions regarding MIRA you may contact your local underwriting contact.

02.

What screen resolutions are best suited for working with the system?

The system is designed to work with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels or higher. At lower resolutions, you can expect to encounter problems, e.g. buttons or control elements may not be visible. In this case, you should use the scroll bars to get them on the screen. However, to work most efficiently with MIRA we recommend a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels or higher.

03.

Are there any requirements that have to be met?

You need a browser that supports HTML and Javascript and permits session cookies. For certain contents, the browser must also support 128-bit SSL encryption.

We also recommend to use Internet access with a bandwidth of at least 2 MBit. With a lower rate some pages might require a longer loading time.

04.

Which browsers are supported?

The system supports the most commonly used browsers. MIRA and the connect.munichre application are designed for use with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.x or above.

05.

Are there any settings that I have to make in order to get the full functionality of the application?

Yes, you should include the sites https://mira.munichre.com and https://connect.munichre.com in your Trusted Zone as that is the only way to ensure that the full functionality of the MIRA and/or connect application is available.

06.

Which further browser settings are required to work with MIRA?

When using MIRA with Internet Explorer 7 or higher, we recommend the following settings:

  • “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins” is enabled. This setting is necessary for the AJAX functionality. If ActiveX controls are disabled, MIRA will not work.
  • “Binary and Script behaviours” is enabled. This setting is necessary for the AJAX functionality. If ActiveX controls are disabled, some features of MIRA will not work.
  • “Active Scripting” is enabled. Without enabling “Active Scripting”, MIRA cannot be used at all. Even the logon will not be possible.
  • If the slider in the “Privacy tab” is set to “High” or higher, MIRA can not be used at all. Even the logon will not be possible.
  • Cookies of the domain munichre.com are allowed. If this is not the case MIRA cannot be used at all. Even the logon will not be possible.
  • If neither SSL 2.0 nor SSL 3.0 is enabled, the Internet Explorer will not display any site.

07.

What are cookies

Cookies contain various items of information which have been collected during an online session. Only session cookies are used within the framework of connect.munichre; these are not saved on the hard disk. Cookies of this type remain valid for 30 minutes and are deleted from the main memory when the online session ends.

08.

How can Munich Re guarantee that data are transferred and saved securely?

When using MIRA all data transfer between the MIRA server and the user’s pc is encrypted using SSL technique. Additionally, no data is stored in MIRA permanently. All information entered by users into MIRA is only available to themselves and only while the session is active.

09.

What is SSL?

SSL was developed by Netscape and stands for Secure Socket Layer. It is used to encrypt data transmitted via HTTP connections.

10.

Why do we need SSL?

Communication in the network initially proceeds without encryption although various systems are passed through. SSL encryption is useful in order to make communication safer.

11.

What does SSL do?

SSL ensures that you indeed reach the page with which you wish to communicate. In addition, it also ensures that the transmitted data cannot be recorded or decoded.

12.

How do you use the encryption and how do you recognize encoded pages?

The browser automatically recognizes the https protocol with which the encoded pages are transmitted. The encryption is identified by an "s" after "http" in the URL, such as "https:\\www.munichre.com", or by the lock icon in the browser status bar at the bottom.
