Not if, but how

MIRA Technical Requirements

01.

Who can I contact to get answers to technical questions?

Please click on the "Contact" button in the lower navigation bar or contact the connect team directly at: +49 89 3891-6700 (for clients in Germany) or +49 89 3891-6710 (for clients in all other countries) or send an e-mail to: Business-Applications@munichre.com. Alternatively for questions regarding MIRA you may contact your local underwriting contact.

02.

What screen resolutions are best suited for working with the system?

The system is designed to work with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels or higher. At lower resolutions, you can expect to encounter problems, e.g. buttons or control elements may not be visible. In this case, you should use the scroll bars to get them on the screen. However, to work most efficiently with MIRA we recommend a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels or higher.

03.

Are there any requirements that have to be met?

You need a browser that supports HTML and Javascript and permits session cookies. For certain contents, the browser must also support 256-bit SSL encryption, TLS1.2.

We also recommend to use Internet access with a bandwidth of at least 2 MBit. With a lower rate some pages might require a longer loading time.

04.

Which browsers are supported?

The system supports the most commonly used browsers. MIRA and the connect.munichre application are designed for use with Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or above.

05.

Are there any settings that I have to make in order to get the full functionality of the application?

Yes, you should include the sites https://register.munichre.com, https://mira.munichre.com and https://connect.munichre.com in your Trusted Zone as that is the only way to ensure that the full functionality of the MIRA and/or connect application is available.

06.

Which further browser settings are required to work with MIRA?

When using MIRA with Internet Explorer 11 or higher, we recommend the following settings:

  • Cookies of the domain munichre.com are allowed. If this is not the case MIRA cannot be used at all. Even the logon will not be possible.
  • Browser needs to support TLS 1.2.

07.

What are cookies

Cookies contain various items of information which have been collected during an online session. Only session cookies are used within the framework of connect.munichre; these are not saved on the hard disk. Cookies of this type remain valid for 30 minutes and are deleted from the main memory when the online session ends.

08.

How can Munich Re guarantee that data are transferred and saved securely?

When using MIRA all data transfer between the MIRA server and the user’s pc is encrypted using SSL technique. Additionally, no data is stored in MIRA permanently. All information entered by users into MIRA is only available to themselves and only while the session is active.

09.

What is SSL?

SSL was developed by Netscape and stands for Secure Socket Layer. It is used to encrypt data transmitted via HTTP connections.

10.

Why do we need SSL?

Communication in the network initially proceeds without encryption although various systems are passed through. SSL encryption is useful in order to make communication safer.

11.

What does SSL do?

SSL ensures that you indeed reach the page with which you wish to communicate. In addition, it also ensures that the transmitted data cannot be recorded or decoded.

12.

How do you use the encryption and how do you recognize encoded pages?

The browser automatically recognizes the https protocol with which the encoded pages are transmitted. The encryption is identified by an "s" after "http" in the URL, such as "https:\\www.munichre.com", or by the lock icon in the browser status bar at the bottom.
